COMMON STRATEGIES IN DIGITAL MARKETING

An average person spends around 3 to 4 hours a day on their smartphone accessing social media sites, search engines and other online media. With this tremendous surge in access to information things have taken a different turn in the field of marketing and brand promotion.

Digital marketing has emerged as a brilliant alternative to physical marketing strategies. Allowing companies to give their brands up close and personal experience to their target audience. The global statistics by the World Bank state that more than 3 billion people have access to internet out of which 70% of them access it on a daily basis. This is the sole reason that companies are investing more than 20% of their total income into digital marketing strategies. Social Media – these platforms are the most cost effective and efficient when it comes to digital marketing. Increasing brand awareness, improving customer experience, increasing website traffic and maintaining customer loyalty can be easily done through social media platforms. Social network sites like Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Quora, Google+ and LinkedIn are among the largest networks that are being used rigorously for digital marketing purposes.

Videos, Blogs, Vlogs and Images – it has been found that more than 40% of the customers that are being targeted respond better to visual information rather than textual information. Blogs and Vlogs are also trending these days as they attract 3 times more people because of their visual appeal and video content.   

E-mails – campaigns that are especially meant for emails are designed owith the help of automation tools like HTML and CSS. Customers who give their email on any platform are approached by certain brands who pay these platforms to share the emails to them which becomes their target customers. Emails are sent to these addresses with a automation method which also helps in analysing results like the number of people who opened the mail and the number of people who clicked on the product or services that has been mentioned in the email.

SEO & SEM (Search Engine Optimization & Search Engine Marketing) – Google, Ask, Bing and Yahoo are among the largest search engines that people use on a daily basis. SEO increases the visibility of websites or web pages without paying for ads. The other strategy is known as Search Engine Marketing (SEM) which involves paid advertisements in search engines that are optimized in a way that customers would be clicking on them without even knowing. For ex: Google Adwords that works on a pay-per-click pricing model for ads.
